We also discussed the ongoing impact of sexual violence in Australia, ideas about the 2nd Action Plan to help address and prevent sexual violence, regional concerns and issues about child sexual abuse and family law. 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲. 🏠 Current tenancy protections in many Australian states, including Queensland, recognise the housing impacts of domestic and family violence, allowing victim-survivors to leave unsafe situations without additional financial penalties. But victim-survivors of sexual violence who face similar risks and harms are often left without the same protections. QSAN supports extending housing policies and tenancy laws to include all victim-survivors of sexual violence. Sexual violence can force people to leave their homes, relocate communities, or choose between their safety and their housing security. No one should be required to remain in an unsafe environment or face homelessness because existing laws fail to recognise their experience. This recent story shared by the ABC highlights the devastating consequences that can occur when safety protections do not reflect the realities of victim-survivors' lives. To read the full story, please visit: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-06-15/tas-breaking-a-lease-when-safety-is-at-risk/106773368?utm_source=abc_news_app&utm_medium=content_shared&utm_campaign=abc_news_app&utm_c It is time for tenancy laws and housing responses to recognise the experiences of all victim-survivors of violence, including sexual violence. #EndSexualViolence #HousingSecurity #VictimSurvivors #TenancyReform
