LGBTQIA+


The LGBTQIA+ community are impacted by sexual assault, however little statistics are available. While greater research needs to be done, one study found that 25% experienced sexual assault within a same-sex relationship, despite representing around 11% of the population.

  • QLife, or Diverse Voices (QLD Branch) is a free phone service for people who identify as LGBTQIA+. The peer support and referral service can support people to discuss a range of issues including sexual assault and support to access the most appropriate service.   • The Domestic Violence Resource Centre for Victoria has also developed an information brochure about abuse in same sex relationships. This can be found on their website by clicking here

 

  • Open Doors Youth Service supports LGBTQIA+ young people (aged 12-24) across South East Queensland. They can support with housing, sexual health, case management and other support services and programs.
