About SVAM 2026
In Queensland, Sexual Violence Awareness Month is held in October.
This month-long campaign raises awareness about the prevalence and impacts of sexual violence and highlights the importance of supporting victim-survivors. SVAM provides an opportunity for communities, organisations, and government to stand together to amplify the voices of survivors to prevent sexual violence in Queensland.
This Year’s Campaign: No More Silence, Prevent Sexual Violence
This year, the theme for QSAN’s Sexual Violence Awareness Month campaign is No More Silence - Prevent Sexual Violence. This theme is a call to action for all Queenslanders. Ending sexual violence is not only about encouraging victim-survivors to speak up about their experiences; it is also about ensuring that when they do, they are heard, believed, and supported.
No More Silence challenges the attitudes, stigma and barriers that allow sexual violence to remain hidden. It calls on individuals, communities, organisations and systems to listen, respond, and take meaningful action to prevent sexual violence before it occurs.
This campaign would not be possible without the support of the Queensland Government, and we extend our sincere thanks to them and the Honourable Amanda Camm MP, Minister for Families, Seniors and Disability Services and Minister for Child Safety and the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence for their commitment to ending sexual violence in Queensland.
We also extend our gratitude to all QSAN services throughout Queensland for their contributions to this project.
In particular, QSAN would like to acknowledge the many victim-survivors of sexual violence who participated in SVAM workshops across the state: thank you for your strength and positivity in participating in these workshops and sharing your amazing art.

This artwork was created by a victim-survivor as part of a Sexual Violence Awareness Month (SVAM) art workshop.
This year, over 79 victim-survivors participated in 10 workshops across Queensland, from Logan to Cherbourg to the Tablelands, producing art reflecting the Sexual Violence Awareness Month theme: No More Silence, Prevent Sexual Violence.
The workshops were held from Logan to Redlands, from Brisbane to the Whitsundays.
The theme reminds us that preventing sexual violence is everyone’s responsibility. Our 21-specialist frontline counselling services work with victim-survivors every day who have been silenced by their abuser, their own families, institutions and communities.
When we break the silence, we make the violence visible, allow connections to be made and communities to be strengthened. No More Silence is not about expecting victim survivors to speak if they are not ready or it is not safe but believing them when they choose to share their experience. It is about creating the space for respectful conversations, respecting boundaries and creating safety. It is the responsibility of all us to challenge the attitudes and behaviours that allow sexual violence to occur in order to prevent it.

They tried to take it in the dark.
I found disbelief instead of help,
shame that was never mine to carry.
So I took the pieces and built something else.
